Celebrating Fall and Getting Ready for the Holidays

October is an exciting month around Wheeling. Between fall fairs, and Halloween celebrations, there’s no shortage of things to do in the area. We’ve put together a list of programs and events that are worth checking out this month!

But first... October is also the time to start thinking about the holidays. Get a jump start on preparations now so you can breathe a little easier once Thanksgiving and Christmas are actually here! There’s no need to stress because there are a ton of local organizations ready to lend a hand.

Let's have a look at what’s on offer!

Holiday Help

Could you use a little extra support for this coming holiday season? Now is the time to start signing up for food and gift programs that are offered locally. Many of the organizations that offer support start accepting registration in October.

The easiest way to access information about who’s offering what is to dial 2-1-1 on your phone and speak to someone about your specific needs. You can also go online https://wv211.org/ and search for services.

2-1-1 West Virginia is a comprehensive database of support services around the state. Call 2-1-1 or visit their website to get the exact information you need.

House of the Carpenter’s Christmas Kids

It's time to register for Christmas Kids with the HoC! Everyone who qualifies for this special program will get clothing and an item or two from their wish list.

All kids deserve to feel the magic of the Christmas season. The Wheeling community comes together every year to fill the town with joy and laughter. Your neighbors look forward to shopping for your children and grandchildren!

Sign ups for Christmas Kids opens this month! On October 11, 13, 18, and 20 you can go to HoC between 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. to register. Before you go, head over to the HoC Facebook page for a complete list of what’s needed to sign up.
